Sherman W. Davis

Savannah- Sherman W. Davis has finished the back nine and is off to the 19th hole. On December 5, 2010, at the age of 88 he passed away peacefully, due to complications from kidney cancer. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as an avid golfer.
Sherman grew up in Princeton, New Jersey and graduated from the public school system where his father, B. Woodhull Davis, was Superintendent. Veteran of World War II, he enlisted as a Navigator in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1944 and spent his professional career with 3M Company and Globe Industries. He married his loving wife Sally Dunham in 1957 and they spent the next 53 years together. They raised three sons, Jim, Brad and Peter and retired 15 years ago to Savannah, Georgia. Since then they have thoroughly enjoyed playing golf and tennis, traveling around the world and socializing with many dear friends.
Survived by his wife, Sally; his sons, Jim Anna, Brad and Peter; his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandy and Ted Bowers, and their children, Pam, Steve and Rick.
There will be a small graveside service at Christ Church in Irvington, Virginia on December 11, 2010. Memorials preferred to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, Georgia 31416.
